Vic Roads have released new guidelines on Truck curfews throughout the state.

March 2015 saw a traffic count being carried out to investigate how effective the current truck curfews were that were introduced at the beginning of the year.

Research showed that the Moore St and Somerville Rd changes had been successful in reducing truck traffic on these roads, striking a balance for the local community and truck operators.

The western suburbs are a vital artery for the transport of goods from the Port of Melbourne to Victoria and Interstate. This in turn plays a key role in Victoria’s economy.

In 2001 and 2002, new truck curfews in the western suburbs were introduced to address community  concerns around safety, noise and air quality.
